Episcia is a tropical plant closely related to African violets. Known for its vibrant foliage and colourful blooms, it's a great choice for indoor gardening.

Feature and Care Requirements

Episcia requires bright, indirect light, avoid direct sunlight; can tolerate lower light, but growth and flowering may be slow. Keep the soil consistently moist, but not soggy. Water when the top of the soil couple of inches below feels dry - Bottom watering is recommended to avoid getting leaves wet which can cause spotting or rot. They prefer high humidity above 50% avoid placing near heaters and air conditioners. Thrives in 18-27 degrees; aviod drafts and drop of temperatures below 15 degrees. Use light well-drained soil such as, African Violet potting mix, you can add perlite or coco coir for improved drainage. Fertilise every 4 weeks during the growing season of Spring to Autumn with Powerfeed. For maintenance, pinch off dead leaves or flowers to encourage lush growth. Episcia spreads via runners - these can be left to trail or trimmed and propagated. Flowering occurs during the warm months with trumpet-shaped flowers of - Red, Prink orange or purple. To encourage flowering provide bright indirect light.
