Collection: Anthurium Collection

Anthuriums are a genus of flowering plants known for their striking, often heart-shaped leaves and colourful spathes - The waxy, petal-like structure surrounding the actual flower spike, called the spadix.

Scientific Name: Anthurium. Family: Araceae (same as peace lilies and philodendrons. Common Names: Flamingo Flower, Laceleaf, Tailflower. Native to: Central and South America. Toxic to Pets: Yes (contains calcium oxalate crystals)

Care Requirements: Light: Bright, indirect light. Water: Water when top of soil (1-2 inches) is dry; prefers constant moisture, but not soggy. Humidity: Prefers a high 60-80%, mist regularly or use a humidifier. Temperature: Prefers 18-27 degrees, avoid cold drafts. Soil: Loose, well-draining mix such as, Orchid Bark + Perlite + Peat Moss. Fertiliser: Monthly in Spring/Summer with a balanced, diluted fertiliser such as Powerfeed.

Propagation - Most commonly practice of propagation is through division of the root ball or stem cutting. Ensure cutting tool is sanitised, and allow cutting to callus before planting.
