Collection: Philodendron Collection

Philodendron is one of the most popular and diverse genera of houseplants, known for its lush, tropical foliage, ease of care, and huge variety of forms—from compact heart-shaped vines to dramatic split-leaf climbers.

Family: Araceae (same as Monstera, Alocasia, Syngonium). Native to: Central & South America rainforests. Growth Habit: Either vining/climbing or self-heading/upright. Light: Bright, indirect light. Tolerates medium light; avoid direct sun. Water: Let the top 1–2 inches of soil dry out. Don't overwater. Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity (40–70%). Soil: Chunky, well-draining mix (potting soil + perlite + orchid bark). Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans (calcium oxalate crystals).

There are two mainly two forms of Philodendrons (1) “Vining/Climbing/Crawling” Philodendrons (2) “Self-heading/ Upright” Philodendrons that are compact and decorative. For climbing crawling philodendrons use moss pole or stake to encourage large leaf forms. If kept indoor, ensure leaves are kept dust free to allow photosynthesising. Fertilise monthly during the growing season of Spring and Summer with Powerfeed. Propagation is easy through stem cutting, like other ariods cut below a node with sharp sanitised tool. Although, Self-Heading philodendrons are harder to propagate it still can be achieved by division below a node, with an ariel root.
